Day 134: s3 day4
I spent a lot of the day dillydallying and getting ready for a plane trip. So as my something nice for a stranger I clicked on this banner to the right. Each activity I complete helps donate to the world food program. So every minute or so, I appease a sponsor enough to donate a meal to a needy child. It’s pretty simple and I’m inviting you to click too.
If you’re into internet procrastination and helping people out here are some site you might wanna check out the next time you’ve got half an hour on the clock and no work left to do (or you’re taking a pre-studying study break).
www.freerice.com – it’s like “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” except you’re helping fight world hunger and Jeff Foxworthy’s facial hair isn’t distracting you the whole time.
www.socialvibe.com – become a member and play games to earn points. Every point earned goes towards donations to charities of your choice. Pick a cause and play.
www.givoogle.com – it’s a search engine powered by google. You perform your searches like normal. Advertisers donate to the AMerican cancer society every time 1000 people see their ad. The site was started by a classmate and his wife so please support cancer research, social innovation, and fast searches all at once.
There you go. Lemme know what you did for a stranger today. And tomorrow (Dec 29) is day 5; time to de-stranger someone.
Out.

Day 132: Super Secret Santa
So, last year I messed around with a different secret santa idea for my group of friends. IT never really came to fruition. This past year, I tossed around the idea again, and though Christmas day has come and gone, it is still Christmastide. I figure this is gonna be a Beta Year for what I’d like to call Super Secret Santa. It’s simple really.
Super Secret Santa involves performing random (and not so random) acts of kindness during the 12 days of Christmas. The idea is to see how far a simple sentiment can go and to enjoy small acts of kindness. Each day you are invited to consider a new way to be a do-gooder.
Day 1 (December 25) 2 & 3 – Suggestions welcome. These days have passed and I figure I’ll really think about em for next year.
Day 4 – Do something nice for a complete stranger. You know that guy waiting ages and ages to make that left turn? Wave him through. (After making sure it’s clear of course)
Day 5 – De-stranger someone. There are people you see every single day but it’s kinda become a part of the routine just to nod hello and go on. Well, it’d be interesting if today you just actually said hello (insert name here) or introduced yourself to one of those people.
Day 6 – Do something nice with someone else. Yeah this is the part where you get to employ a co-conspirator.
Day 7 – Overdue thank you There are people who do nice things for you all the time with out getting a thank you. Sure some of them get paid for the nice things they do and some of them didn’t really intend to just to a nice thing for you, but today make and effort to show thanks to your bus driver or your mail carrier or your mom or a teacher etc.
Day 8 – Chill-ville Meditate on the past seven days.
Day 9 – Do something nice for a family member or good friend We’ve waited this long to address the people closest to us for a reason. We are sometimes too comfortable with people who we love. It takes a certain amount of courage to be vulnerable with a stranger. With that behind us, maybe we can take that courage and carry it on in the relationships that mean most to us. So when we do something nice for someone very close to us, let’s no’t get lazy about it.
Day 10 – Flying solo Turn it inside out. Yeah do something very nice for yourself. Get creative and don’t skip this one. Think about what makes you happy and then do it.
Day 11 Behind Enemy Lines Simply be kind towards someone who may be someone who is very difficult to be kind to. It’ll be a good exercise for the both of you. Just make sure you choose a challenge that will still be genuine.
Day 12 – Mulligan! So, most of us have some unsaid “sorrys” behind us. Make an effort to make right something you may have made wrong.
And those are the 12 days of super secret santa. I know a few people have told me they really want in. If during one of the twelve days you feel like you wanna share whatever experience you had, I am all for it.
Peace all
